Queens, Women Who Surf New York City Waves, will be showing at the 10th Annual Women’s Surf Film Festival in Rockaway Beach, New York. Over the past five years, I’ve worked with so many powerful women who surf. Some I met when they first started surf lessons, and I’ve watched them over the years grow in strength and confidence. Others taught me about surf and waves and mental strength. All of them graciously shared their personal stories and their surf journeys. Although I would never consider myself a portrait photographer, the first set of photos from this series are portraits. It’s my way of honoring these amazing women and our shared intimate connection with the water.
